A complete range of Phenolic Strip products to meet the need for structural insulation at duct suspension points for both rectangular and circular ductwork is now available from all CCL Veloduct branches.

Unlike wood these products have a reinforced foil facing thus making joining & vapour sealing simplicity itself. Now contractors can be sure of a perfect vapour seal each and every time.

All products in the range are CFC free and offer a “green” solution to the need for structural insulation where ducts are supported.

Manufactured in Class 0 rated fire resistant, high-density structural phenolic foam, the CCL products are fully tested to the requirements of BS 476. Not only is the material three times more efficient than wood as a thermal insulation material, it is also cheaper than hardwood and makes no contribution to the destruction of the rainforests!

Moisture resistance is also excellent due to the closed cell structure of the material.

Rectangular ductwork
For rectangular ductwork CCL Veloduct offers Tecstrip Flat Phenolic Insulating Strips.

Tecstrip comprises a structural Phenolic foam with a nominal density of 60Kg/m3 and an outer class ‘O’ rated reinforced foil vapour barrier. The composition is light in weight, while offering excellent tensile and cross break strength characteristics.

The product is available from all branches in CCL Veloduct’s national distribution network, supplied as standard in one metre lengths. It is offered in two widths (50mm and 75mm) and three thicknesses (25mm, 38mm and 50mm).

Application is simplicity itself. A Tecstrip length in the required width and thickness is cut to size and fixed to the channel, or angle iron bearer. The duct support bracket can then be fitted with the Tecstrip eliminating any cold bridge between the outer surface of the duct and the support. For larger duct sections two or more pieces of Tecstrip can be joined together prior to insulation.

Circular solution
CCL Veloduct's solution for structural insulation of circular ductwork and pipes takes the form of Flexible Phenolic Insulating Strips. The product comprises wedges of high quality, high-density structural phenolic foam held in place by an outer Class O rated re-inforced foil vapour barrier. The deep cut wedges - giving a configuration not unlike a certain famous brand of Swiss chocolate - make the strips highly flexible. It takes only a few moments to wrap a strip around the duct, or pipe and complete the insulating ring by joining the two ends with a small piece of aluminium tape.

The duct support brackets can now be fitted around the structure, with the insulating strip ensuring there is no thermal bridge to the supporting hanger.

Boxes of CCL Veloduct Flexible Phenolic Strip are available with product in a single width (50 mm) and a choice of three thicknesses and standard lengths i.e. 25 mm thick by 36 metres, 38 mm thick by 30 metres, and 50 mm thick by 24 metres. Other sizes are available subject to minimum quantity orders.
